This reroute avoids parts of Louisiana and Mississippi that riders often complained about due to poor cycling roads, and lack of services. Eastbound, to stay on route, you will need to follow the New Orleans Spur on Section 5 from New Roads to New Orleans. Section 6 now begins in New Orleans and heads eastward along the coast.
